{Another} Chair makeover

February 17, 2011

So this little number was looking very sad and sorry for itself in a local garage sale, but i couldn’t resisit as i’ve been after a Thonet chair for a while and it was just the right price at $10!

You can kind of see why though, i think it was kept outside as there was a some warping and serious flaking. If it hadn’t been in such a bad way it would have been lovely just as it is. A bit of wood filler and a lick of paint though and it scrubbed up a treat. Perfect bedside table material.

Don’t you love my pillowcases? They are from one of my favourite shops High Tea With Mrs Woo by a company called Sunday Morning Designs, such a great name and i love my little owl and his micey mates!

The colour i used was the same that i painted my office chair, see here for makeover, it may have been better a brighter colour but it seemed a waste not to use up leftover paint.

If i was to write this up for an interior mag, id say how ‘i always keep a notebook handy by the bed to jot down impromtu ideas’ – reality, they just look pretty in the shot!!

I LOVE the chair – what a fantastic little makeover. Never again shall I pass over a ratty piece of furniture thinking its past it!
I have to ask though – what is wood filler, and where would I get it?

Thanks Pearl – always make sure it’s nice and sturdy though! Woodfiller can be picked up at any good DIY shop and comes in different colours so you can match it to your wood tone. Just fill, let dry and then sand back so you have a nice smooth surface.

Thanks Ellie pops! I had to paint it white for a shoot, so i’m now debating whether to paint it yellow!
